Dr Rex Kwan is a GP (General Practitioner) based in Sydney, NSW. He works out of the Regency Hyde Park Building, Ground Floor, 281 Elizabeth Street, Sydney NSW 2000. You’ll often see him for day-to-day health needs, from simple check-ups to longer follow-ups when things take time.
With around 10 years of experience, Dr Kwan has looked after a wide mix of patients. That includes people managing ongoing health problems, as well as patients who just want help with what’s going on right now. In many cases, he can support both the physical side and the mental side of health, especially when stress, worry, or low mood are affecting day-to-day life.
Dr Kwan helps with common illnesses like colds and flu, and he’s also there for things like blood pressure monitoring and preventive health checks. If you need vaccinations, prescription refills, or help planning ongoing care for chronic conditions, he can work through it with you in a practical way. Chronic pain management is also part of his work, along with general practice consultations for adults and families.
At times, patients need a bit more support, like advice around mental health, or help sorting out next steps when symptoms keep coming back. He also offers medicinal cannabis prescribing for suitable cases, where it fits with your overall care plan. And if coming in is hard, telehealth consultations are available too.
Dr Kwan studied medicine at the University of Notre Dame Australia in Fremantle, Western Australia, completing his MBBS. He also has a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Medical Microbiology and Immunology. Later on, he became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2017.
He’s worked in different settings over the years. This has included hospital roles as a junior doctor/resident at Blacktown and Mount Druitt, plus time at Westmead Hospitals. He’s also worked as a GP in Sydney clinics, including Key Health CBD South, Myhealth Zetland, and Macquarie Park, and has done locum work in prison healthcare and remote communities across Australia.
Dr Kwan speaks English and Cantonese (Chinese), which can be helpful for patients who prefer care in those languages. If you’re looking for a calm, straightforward GP for ongoing care or a quick check, he aims to make appointments feel clear and manageable.
