Chelsea Mayoh is a Pediatric Oncologist based in Kensington, NSW, Australia. She looks after children and young people who are dealing with serious illnesses, especially cancers that affect the blood and the brain.
In many cases, her patients need care for conditions like neuroblastoma, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), and other types of childhood leukaemia. She also works with families where the illness is a brain stem tumour, a posterior fossa tumour, or a diffuse midline glioma (H3 K27M). At times, children are also seen for medulloblastoma, ependymoma, glioma, or gliomatosis cerebri.
Not all cancers look the same, and the treatment plan can change as things develop. Chelsea Mayoh also supports children with solid tumours such as Ewing sarcoma, osteosarcoma, and rhabdomyosarcoma, plus smaller but still complex conditions like retinoblastoma. Some patients need support around late effects and growth concerns too, including delayed growth.
Her work extends beyond cancer names on a page. She also cares for children and young people with related blood conditions and rare disorders, including congenital aplastic anaemia, infantile neutropenia, and Fanconi anaemia. She may also be involved when there are issues like glucocorticoid resistance, and blood clot concerns such as venous thromboembolism (VTE). In some cases, she looks after children with genetic conditions linked to higher risk of disease, including Noonan syndrome and RASopathies.
Over time, paediatric oncology care is about more than treatment. It’s also about listening, keeping things clear, and working through next steps with the family day by day. Chelsea’s training includes paediatric oncology and child health, and she stays up to date with current research and better care options as they become available.
